About Me

Hello, my name is Jibari Daniels. I am an Informational Designer based out of New York City. Since being at IBM, I have grown as a leader developing the ability to challenge the status quo and push the boundaries to make things better.

Background

I started at IBM with a very extensive background in designing, stemming from a foundation in fine arts. Having a background in design allowed me to describe and see the importance of art, not only through its principles, but also how it relates to design thinking. I have two Adobe Certifications in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Dreamweaver and I am a member of a wide range of design and technology organizations such as NSBE (National Society of Black Engineers), and EPT (Epsilon Pi Tau), the Leading International Society for Technology.

Not only do I have an well-established background in design, I have an equally extensive background in development. My development skillset ranges from a strong understanding of coding which include but not limited to front-end languages of HTML, CSS, Javascript; and back-end languages such as Node.JS, PHP and Python. I also have a strong understanding IBM Cloud deployment including working with mySQL in the database.

I also have a strong understanding IBM Cloud deployment including working with mySQL in the database. In addition to having a strong knowledge of the raw languages I have a clear understanding of their frameworks including but not limited to SASS, LESS, Bootstrap, jQuery, React/Redux, React Native, Angular, Vue. I am learning Typescript, currently.

Working at IBM has been a rewarding experience since starting here I have been considered the technical lead who other designers reach out to when it comes to development questions.

My understanding of programming allows me to use the workflow concepts of agile and its methodology. Working with agile and design thinking, I created a variety of blog posts through IBM forums and have receive 6 design thinking and agile badges from acclaim.

During the time I have been at IBM I have volunteered my services teaching young children the importance of coding at program called PAC (Program for Accelerated Careers in Computer Science) at Monmouth University in New Jersey and I created a not for profit organization called Community Tech Connect, which strives to bring changes to the minority community through technology.

Deals

Since starting at IBM, I have worked hundreds of different opportunities that have contributed to IBM’s bottom line. I have averaged around 40 deals per year with a potential estimated gross of 25 billion dollars to IBM’s market value.

Engagements

Around 40% of the deals I worked on I was requested to work directly on site with the deal team in solutioning, design thinking workshops or win-themes. I was required several times to directly present my deliverable to the client in orals. I created high-end, innovative deliverables around 70% of the time. A large amount of these deliverables were microsites or web applications. Some important deliverables include a microsite I created for CitiGroup in 2017 which resulted in a win of 50 million dollars.

In addition to Citigroup I created two journey murals for State of Alabama and Federated Co-Operatives Limited in 2017 which resulted in a combined win of 38 million and a microsite I create for AIG in 2017 which resulted in a win of 77 million dollars. I worked two very large wins (totally over 1.1 billion), of Amtrak in the Spring 2017; and Capital One in the Fall of 2017. I have worked and won numerous international deals and was required, in the spring of 2018 to work in Mexico on CitiBananex. This resulted in being the largest deal at in Latin America.

Due to my development background I was requested many times to present my work directly to the client in orals. One project in particular, was Tribune Publishing, where I created a site for the company

I have been requested to represent our division on some of the highest profile deals at IBM. This includes Thames Water Project (Project Tessa) in 2015 which contributed a estimate revenue of 375 million dollars to IBM’s bottom line.

Apart from these deals, I was requested to create microsites for a variety of different opportunity owners for high end deals which include Cargill for 29 million in Minneapolis, MN, Raytheon for 35 million in Tucson, AZ, US Central Command (very important government deal) which resulted in a win for 94 million in Herdon, VA, and Health Care Service Corporation for 240 million in Chicago, IL.

DEALS I HAVE WORKED ON

In addition to these projects I worked several other projects which I was requested to be onsite to present high-end innovative deliverables for the sales team or the client.

Projects

I contributed to IBM in many ways, both client facing and internally. I have been requested on several occasions to represent Quote to Cash (Q2C) on some of IBM's Largest IBM accounts.

Internal Projects

During my first month at IBM I was required to represent our division at the Manager Directors’ meeting in Armonk, New York. This meeting consisted of our CEO, Ginni Rometty, talking to directors of the largest accounts at IBM how they could be more effective. While at the meeting I showcased a portal for the managing director of Pfizer as a way of showing him what we offered as a division. Besides attending the meeting another project I worked on was creating client-facing portals for some of the largest IBM accounts.

Working with the account holder, Jo Welsh, a director from the digital commerce division, I helped develop web portals for Morgan Stanley, MetLife and Pepsi. Another project I worked on was helping redesign and develop the career progression website. This project was essential to allowing people find jobs within their career. In addition to these two projects, I also created the SDS logo, the SDS website and SDS YourLearning website. These two websites were created to help IBMers learn about SDS and what we contribute to IBM.

These two websites were created to help IBMers learn about SDS and what we contribute to IBM. The STS website was used as a portal that not only gave people the option to learn about our division but also a one-stop-shop to aid them in navigating resources we offered. Whereas The STS Your Learning website has information about the positions we have in our division such as Information Designer, Proposal Support Professional, Content Writer, Deal Strategist.

From Spring 2017 to Winter 2017, I was the iteration manager of my squad. Where I coached my team on using agile methodologies including daily stand ups, kanban, sprints and retrospective meetings.

Also, I have created applications that help us be more innovative and perform better as an overall department. One project in particular I created a microsite hosting application that stored all the microsites we created as a division in one location.

Besides this web application for our division, I created a monthly global web development guild where I mentored other informational designers throughout the globe on the best practices in web development. I have been requested to create various websites for a variety of different departments and divisions in IBM. Some of these projects include a website I created for IBM cloud division for their annually cloud boot camp and a flier I created for the global woman of IBM
